The Act of Forgiveness

is like a Healing Bath,

clearing out the gunk

of blame from within.

Forgiveness helps you make peace with your past….

because when we stop holding on

and clinging to anything,

we realize we have everything…

Oogy, Miracle Dog
Oogy, Miracle Dog

Oogy is a miracle dog.  Against all odds,   Oogy lived through horrible, unthinkable circumstances and is not only living, but thriving.  He shows that past circumstances, no matter how terrible, does not have to dictate the quality of the future.  Despite deep wounds, he could have easily died.  Despite no apparent reason to live through something that could have killed him, he lived.  Despite never having a human being on his side to love or show him any kindness, he lived through horror, and has come out the other side, Loving Big, Loving Joyously.  The instinct, the Drive, to Live and Love are deep and Oogy shows us this in all its beauty.

Pit Bulls have a terrible reputation for being mean and aggressive and are well known also as fighting dogs.  I have met quite a few Pit Bulls through working in shelters with Tellington TTouch for rehabilitation and to help dogs and cats be able to be adopted more readily.  The Pit Bulls I have met have some special qualities that are incredibly lovable.  These dogs have all had something special.

According to the reputation of his breed, he ‘should have’ turned out as aggressive to people, resentful, unforgiving, driven by instincts to hurt, hunt, even kill.  But for Oogy, the opposite is true.  He shows the power of the drive to live and love.   We have much to learn from Oogy.

Three Stars Come Together:

Tony Robins, Jauquin Hawkins together with Coach John Wooden for a Breakthrough in Life.

Meet the men:

Tony Robbins recently began the TV series Breakthrough.  He has been on the forefront of looking at your internal drives, peak performance strategies, and his own style of  life coaching.  Robins is well known for getting Results and his powerful “Immersion Coaching.”

Juaquin Hawkins, professional basketball player, most known for playing with the Houston Rockets during the 2002-03 Season.  He was the second oldest rookie in the NBA during that time.  “Hawk” had already played with the Harlem Globetrotters between 1998-99 before joining the NBA.  In 2008, the forward, who once scored 14 points on Michael Jordan, suffered a stroke.

John Wooden was the first person to be inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame as both a player in 1961, and later as a coach in 1973. He coached ten NCAA national championships in a 12-year period, something that is unmatched by other college basketball coaches.  At 99 years, in his last interview, the legendary Coach John Wooden gave Juaquin Hawkins some simple advice, “Open Your Heart” and,

“Just do the best you can, each day.”  John Wooden

This hippie wanna be grew up listening to Cat Stevens.

His song Peace Train was one of my many favorites.

Cat Stevens Peace Train is a beautiful inspiration and invitation for all of us.

He has been given several awards for his work in promoting peace in the world, including 2003′s World Award, the 2004 Man for Peace Award, and the 2007 Mediterranean Prize for Peace.

May your day be filled with peace, gentleness and replenishing.

Feeling Hot?

When the thermometer temperatures are on the rise, let Peppermint Therapeutic Grade Essential Oil

cool you and your horse down.

Tip #1) Sponge Baths: I love to put just a drop or two of Therapeutic Grade Essential Oils into a bucket of cool water and then give the horses a sponge  bath in the mornings.  Peppermint and Lavender are my favorite oils to use.  The horses stay cool, calm and relatively bug free all day, even in roasting weather!

2) Drinking Water: Add a few drops to the horse’s water trough.  Start with a single drop so they get used to the taste for a few days. Most horses LOVE the taste of Peppermint!  Work your way up to a few drops in the water trough. This adds a refreshing, cooling effect that lasts longer than plain water.

3) Shampoo Baths: Need A Cool,  Clean Horse?  Add 1-2 drops of Peppermint to Animal Scents Shampoo for a cooling, soothing, chemical free bath.

4) Misting: Spritz the stall, Horse Trailer, YOU!  Add 1-10 drops of Peppermint to a 4 ounce glass Spritzer bottle mixed with Distilled water, Aloe Vera

Peppermint

Juice or Witch Hazel for a hydrating, refreshing lift.

5) Cool Ice: Freeze a container of water with a few drops of Peppermint to make a big Peppermint Ice Cube. Use this in the water trough, water bucket or  feed dish.  For variation, add in some horse treats, carrots, apples, etc to encourage your horse to go for the cube!

6) Cool Feet: Dap a few drops of Peppermint around the coronet band.

7) Cool Feed: Use a few drops right in your horses feed, mix with a bit of water.  Start with just a drop so they get used to the taste.  Increase the amount over several feedings as they adjust to the taste.

These are just a few of my favorite ways to help keep horses cool in the summertime heat.  Use your intuition and imagination for just the right things for you and your animals!
